MBABANE: Nonhlanhla Dlamini, the Executive Director of the Swaziland Action Group Against Abuse(SWAGAA)said as an organization, they resolved to remember deceased powerful and influential women as part of the International Women's Day.
Speaking to this Swaziland News on Monday, the SWAGAA Executive Director said they decided to remember the deceased women as part of encouraging other women to work hard in honour of the deceased women. The deceased women among others include, Deputy Chairperson of the Elections and Boundaries Commission(EBC) Winnie Magagula, former eSwatini TV editor Setsabile Sibisi, Bishop Grace Mavimbela and Pastor Rose Mazibuko. Others include Zelda Nhlabatsi, Philile Masango Nomcebo Manzini, former Senator Bonsile Mngomezulu and Bishop Elinah Wakumoya.
“We decided to introduce a ‘Drive Through’ where people came to take some pictures and further donate sanitary pads among others, we will then donate what we received from the public to the needy”,she said .
The SWAGAA Director said she was happy with the progress in the country in terms of women empowerment even though this haven’t reached the 50-50 level required by the United Nations. Dlamini noted that the country has seen the the appointment of female Judges and Cabinet Ministers which she said was highly commendable.
