Eswatini, August 2019: The Old Mutual National Choir Festival entertained and inspired the people of Eswatini as 10 choir groups got out to represent their country and exchanged beautiful choral notes while firing up the stage at Esibayeni Lodge on the 4th of August 2019.

Old Mutual is very excited to be back in Eswatini this year as they continue their full support of the Old Mutual National Choir Festival, which they have now been sponsoring since 1988.

Other performances that tantalise and treat those who wish to amplify their enjoyment of choral music will take place from August in Zimbabwe, Polokwane, Cape Town, Johannesburg, Eastern Cape, Ethekwini and Bloemfontein through to October 2019.

His Majesty Correctional Services Choir took the victory, a trophy and prize money of R20,000 in the large choir category (49-60 members) while Pure Voices came first place for the Standard category (30 – 48 members) taking home R15,000 and a trophy making their supporters proud. The other choirs walked away with R2, 500 each as a participation fee. Crowds cheered respectfully and proudly as they were honoured to be part of true Africa heritage, culture and talent. The CEO of Old Mutual Eswatini, Muzi Bell, said in his opening of the event that it is the passion of everybody involved in this competition since it began that has driven its amazing growth towards it becoming a key highlight on Africa’s choral calendar. “This year, an impressive 106 choirs have registered to take part in the regional competitions. We listened to 10 of our very own Eswatini choirs as they amplified their opportunity to be awarded as the best of the best” said Bell. “But it’s not just the number of entrants to our amazing choir festival that has grown. The quality of the performances also continues to grow. And the talent showcased on this stage impresses us more and more with each passing year”, added Bell.

He explained that it is a philosophy of enabling positive futures that Old Mutual knows best. They want everyone to be their exceptional best and strive to amplify their financial futures while pursuing their goals and dreams. “Preparation, dedication, planning, and passion are the key tools to help achieve any form of success in life”, he said. Old Mutual has also increased its support and commitment to the music industry and positioning itself as a financial guide in the challenging world of music by recently launching the Old Mutual AMPD Studios in Newtown Johannesburg, as well as continuing its support of the Old Mutual Music in the Gardens series that they have supported on and off for a number of years. “Our focus on supporting music in our country and continent is important for us to encourage and mentor and coach the youth and new age of aspiring artists and talent, by helping them understand the importance of having a secure financial platform before one embarks on any dream or goal” , explained Bell.

'Old Mutual believes that ‘What’s good for Africa, is Good for Old Mutual'

“All of this is to make sure that we, as Old Mutual, are continuously present, relevant and meaningful in the lives of all our stakeholders. Making a positive and impactful difference by holding out our hands to be the financial partner of choice in one’s journey to be your exceptional best”.
