MBABANE: Colani Maseko, the President of the Swaziland National Union of Students(SNUS) said the students organization will not attend any meeting with the police, he then invited National Commissioner William Dlamini to attend the Friday protest and parade the officers who killed Thabani Nkomonye to the Nation.

Speaking to this Swaziland News on Wednesday, the Students President first clarified that SNUS was not a ‘banana’ union that they can be invited to strategic meetings that sought to disrupt their mission to demand justice for Thabani and Phiwayinkosi adding that they were guided by principles. This comes after the Swazi Observer reported that the Students Union would meet the National Commissioner today(Wednesday), the President said he was not aware of any meeting adding that he could see what the Observer, as a newspaper owned by the King was trying to do with the misleading article.

“We are not aware and we won’t attend any meeting with the National Commissioner as reported by the Observer. Tsine lesikufunako kutsi National Commissioner ete kule-protest afike etfule lamaphoyisa labulala Thabani nalawaya ladubule Phiwayinkosi esiveni atsi “nawa” siwabone, nakacedza lapho ahambe ayowavalela, ufunelani kubona tsine ngansense(meaning: What we want is for the Commissioner to attend the protest on Friday, and parade the officers who killed Thabani and those who shot Phiwayinkosi to the Nation, thereafter, he must take them straight to jail, we don’t understand why he wants to meet leaders of the Students Union secretly”he said.

The Students President warned other students leaders within the various Universities that meeting and drinking coffee with the Police Executive Command in the midst of the current tension was very dangerous and they risked being poisoned. He said any message that the National Commissioner might want to communicate should be directed to the masses during the protest not individuals.

Questions were sent to the National Commissioner seeking clarity regarding the article published by the Observer and dismissed as misleading by the Students President, however, he had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

This publication exclusively reported on Tuesday that during the justice for Thabani protest, police allegedly shot Phiwayinkosi Dlamini in the eye at close range, he is currently admitted at the Mbabane Government Hospital, Intensive Care Unit(ICU).
