MBABANE: Mlungisi Makhanya, the President of People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) said Friday protest will remain peaceful, he urged security forces not to escalate it into a night chaos by brutalizing protesters.
Speaking to this Swaziland News on Wednesday, the PUDEMO President warned security forces saying their conduct during the day will determine whether the protest should escalate to Friday night or not.
“We are calling a peaceful march and we don’t expect security forces to block, assault or shot our people and if they do that during the day, then we will not be responsible of what will happen thereafter during the night. Furthermore, we don’t expect security forces to block our people who will be traveling to Manzini to join the protest, if they do that, they our people will be forced to stage the protests within their communities” said the PUDEMO President.
Makhanya appealed to the security forces to make sure they don’t contribute to chaos by shooting protestors.
”When we call a peaceful protest march, we don’t have control over the reaction of our people once they are provoked by security forces, that’s why we warning them not to contribute to chaos. Once we receive reports suggesting that our people are being blocked, then we will tell them to stage the protest where they are” he said.
