LOBAMBA: Macford Sibandze, the Manzini North MP has called for the employment of more police officers to strengthen security in the midst of the political crisis.

Speaking during a secret meeting held in Parliament that was subsequently exposed by this Swaziland News, the MP who was vocal in motivating the idea of supplying Legislators with guns to protect themselves said he was concerned that the police ratio currently stands at one(1) officer to 400 citizens. He said the three nights showed them there was a great need to employ more police officers.

“The events of the three nights showed us that anyone who was against the employment of police officers must now think again” ,said the Manzini North MP.

Questions were sent to Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, the eSwatini police Spokesperson, however, she had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

On another note, former Mkhiweni MP Machawe Mavuso questioned the National Commissioner of Police William Dlamini as to why he kept quiet after receiving information that MPs were plotting to buy guns to shoot citizens. In an audio message that was also sent to publication, Mavuso  said if this scandal was involving political parties, those people would have long been arrested.
