King assures re-elected Taiwan President continued diplomatic relations

MBABANE: King Mswati has assures re-elected Taiwan President Tsa Ing-wen that the diplomatic relations between eSwatini and her country will continue to be strong.

In a statement sent to this Swaziland News, the King through Minister of Foreign Affairs Thulie Dladla said the re-election of the President was an indication of confidence that the 23million Taiwanese have in her ability to steer the country forward.

“On behalf of His Majesty King Mswati III, the Indlovukazi, Government and the people of the Kingdom of Eswatini, I congratulate Her Excellency, President Tsa Ing Wen on her re-elction as  President of the Republic of China(Taiwan). This re-election is an indicator of the confidence that the 23million Taiwanese have in her ability to steer the country forward. The Kingdom assures it’s commitment to strengthen the progressive bilateral co-operation that has stood the test of time going on 53 years in 2020” read the statement.

President Tsai Ing-wen won the elections with approximately 58% beating Han Kuo-Yu of the Nationalist Party who was supported by the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and was believed to be working towards re-uniting the island with the PRC.
