MBABANE:  Mashumi Shongwe, the President of the Swaziland Economic Improvement Workers Union (SEIWU) said to the best of his knowledge, Montigny Investments upholds safety measures to protest employees from COVID-19.

This comes after this Swaziland News published a story suggesting that Shanon Warren, a block Manager at the company was refusing to allow employees to test for COVID-19 as the company recorded over 50 cases including 2 deaths. Some employees told this publication that the company was refusing to allow them to isolate and be tested.

Speaking to this publication, the SEIWU President said  Montigny employees were tested daily at the company’s expense and those who fell sick from the virus were allowed to recover from home with full pay.

“COVID-19 cases are on the rise country wide and Montigny was not spared, workers are tested daily at the company’s expense. Those who test positive to the virus are given an opportunity to recover at home with full pay since this is now considered an occupational hazard”,said the SEIWU President .

In an earlier interview with this publication,  Shanon Warren, the block Manager at the company denied allegations of being selective after he was accused of  refusing  to allow some of the employees to go for the tests.
