MBABANE: A senior police officer who holds the rank of Sergeant has resigned from the police services and has promised to reveal more critical information regarding the killing of civilians in an exclusive interview with this Swaziland News.
The officer who was instrumental in supporting the struggle for democracy behind the scenes by providing critical information while serving as a police officer said she decided to resign and go public saying she was tired working for an organisation that continues to kill people with impunity.
In a report dated 13th August 2021 and addressed to National Commissioner of police William Tsintsibala Dlamini, the officer said she was tired of serving a heartless and cruel system.
“I hereby resign with immediate effect, I cannot serve such a heartless and cruel system. Nisale kahle nembeza wami uyangilahla kutsi ngingasebeta Hulumende waloluhlobo”,read the report in part.
The name of the police officer cannot be revealed for now, at the time of compiling this report, she was traveling to a safe place before addressing the world through the international media regarding the ongoing killing of civilians.
Questions were sent to Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, however, she had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
Reached for comments, Sibongile Mazibuko, the President of the Ngwane National Liberatory Congress(NNLC) said it was encouraging to see that people of integrity who stood for the truth within the security forces were now starting to come out and reveal the truth that would free the people.
“We want to say ‘thank you’ to this officer who concluded that enough is enough, she cannot watch Swazis suffering and killed. It is important to encourage other officers even those who work closely with the King to come out and tell the world what is happening, they have a crucial role to play in liberating the people”, said the NNLC President.
