MBABANE: Pius Vilakati, the Spokesperson of the Communist Party of Swaziland(CPS) said as a political organization, they were happy that the fabrication of criminal cases by the judiciary against human rights defenders was no longer a secret.
Speaking to this Swaziland News on Thursday, the CPS Spokesperson said the judiciary was part of the political machinery that persecutes the people through the fabrication of criminal charges. This comes after this publication in collaboration with the The Bridge exposed documents substantiating how Advocate GJ Leppan concluded that there was no evidence against the pro-democracy Members of Parliament(MPs) who were falsely charged under the Suppression of Terrorism Act of 2008.
“We are happy that the truth has finally come out that the judiciary is part of the political machinery that persecutes people. Under a democratic government, we must make sure that we establish an independent justice system”, said the CPS Spokesperson.
Judge Mumcy Dlamini who was allegedly acting on a royal command from Mswati dismissed a bail application by the MPs despite the lack of evidence amounting to reasonable belief that they committed a crime.
