MBABANE: Former cop Sergeant Cebile ‘Cece’ Shongwe has urged police officers not to disturb protesting school children saying they will also benefit under a democratic government.

Speaking to this Swaziland News, Shongwe who resigned from the police service in August 2021 saying  she couldn’t continue serving an oppressive government, reminded police officers that they were also struggling under the current regime.

“These children are trying to raise a voice and liberate even the police officers who are captured through their uniform, yet they are struggling”, she said.

Education Minister Lady-Howard Mabuza declined to comment when reached for comments by this Swaziland News.

School children in various schools across the country are protesting demanding democratic reforms and the release of arrested pro-democracy Members of Parliament(MPs) Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube.
