MBABANE: Mlungisi Makhanya, the President of the People’s United Democratic Movement (PUDEMO) said as an organization they support the striking Illovo workers who are demanding a salary increase from their employer.
Speaking to this Swaziland News on Tuesday, the PUDEMO President said Illovo generated lots of profits and urged the management to award its workers the demanded salary increment.
“We know that the company generated huge profits, as an organization, we urge the Management to award the workers the salary increment they deserve” ,he said.
Efforts to reach Illovo Management proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.
Illovo workers engaged in a strike action since last week demanding a salary increase from their employer.
Eswatini is a tiny Kingdom situated in Southern Africa with about 70% of the population living below the poverty line, among the struggling
citizens are workers who are paid low wages.
