MBABANE: Stephanie Dujarric, the Spokesperson for the UN Secretary General expressed concern on the going developments in eSwatini including the deployment of security forces at various schools.
In a statement released on behalf of the UN Secretary General António Guterres, the Spokesperson reiterated the importance for the people of eSwatini to exercise their civil and political rights peacefully.
“He (The UN Secretary General ) urges the government to ensure that security forces act in conformity with relevant international human rights standards, including the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child", reads the statement in part.
The UN further urges all parties including the media to refrain from disinformation, hate speech and incitement.

Eswatini is in the midst of a political crisis, King Mswati allegedly unleashed the army and the police to shoot and kill dozens of protesters who were demanding democratic reforms thus fueling the tension.
