NNLC President Sibongile Mazibuko says incarcerated pro-democracy MPs opted to suffer for the poor.

MBABANE: Sibongile Mazibuko, the President of the Ngwane National Liberatory Congress(NNLC) has described the incarcerated pro-democracy Members of Parliament(MPs) as heroes who opted to suffer for the poor even though they were rich.

MPs Mthandeni Dube and Bacede Mabuza who are critical of Mswati’s regime were arrested on the 25th July 2021 on politically motivated criminal charges after demanding democratic reforms on behalf of the people who elected them.

Speaking to this Swaziland News, the NNLC President whose organization is part of the Political Parties Assembly(PPA) said the MPs could have decided to keep quiet and enjoy their life but they opted to fight for the liberation of the people.

“These MPs, despite being rich opted to stand with the poor, these are National heroes”, said the NNLC President who had been regularly attending court cases with other political leaders in support for the incarcerated MPs.

The two influential pro-democracy MPs who are critical of Mswati’s government were charged with terrorism and contravening COVID-19 regulations among other politically motivated charges.
