MBABANE: Mlungisi Makhanya, the President of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) has urged Swazis not to give King Mswati any peace until democracy was achieved.
Makhanya was addressing hundreds of supporters of the incarcerated pro-democracy Members of Parliament(MPs) Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube who were protesting outside the High Court of Mbabane on Thursday, demanding their release.
“Don’t give Mswati peace until democracy is achieved”, said the PUDEMO President.
Makhanya said since the international community was demonstrating willingness to help Swazis achieve democracy, it was important to put more pressure on the regime adding that this would prove to the world that indeed, Swazis wanted to freedom.
MPs Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni were thrown behind bars by King Mswati after demanding democratic reforms on behalf of the people who elected them, they are facing politically motivated criminal charges.
The two pro-democracy MPs were charged with terrorism and contravening COVID-19 regulations among others.
