MBABANE: King Mswati has banned Prince Magudvulela from entering any royal residence in the country on allegations that he tried to lobby Chiefs to oust him.
As a result, members of the royal guard have been informed to make sure he doesn’t set his foot or attend the main Incwala that is held at Ludzidzini royal residence.
Reached for comments on Friday, Prince Magudvulela said the decision had not been officially communicated to him.
“Nothing official has been communicated to me about this decision”, he said.
The decision by the King to kick out Prince Magudvulela from royalty comes after another influential figure Ngomyayona Gamedze, the former Senate Deputy President was also removed as Umbutfo and further banned from attending Incwala.
Gamedze is the Chairperson of Sive Siyinqaba, a political organization working collectively with the Political Parties Assembly(PPA) to intensify calls for democratic reforms, the political entity is dominated by among others, progressive members of the royal family.
The Prince was also removed as a member of the King’s Inyatsi regiment and insiders revealed that the tension between him and Mswati started after he went to China with other Members of Parliament to discuss alleged diplomatic issues involving the country.
Reached for comments earlier, Ludzidzini Government Lusendvo Fakudze said such matters were far above his jurisdiction.
“Leyo yaLaBadzala mntfwanami(meaning: That matter was handled by the authorities”, said the Governor.
Governor Fakudze could not be reached for comments on the latest developments involving Prince Magudvulela.
Royal insiders revealed that Chief Prince Magudvulela was allegedly lobbying other Chiefs to oust King Mswati.
”He stands accused of lobbying Chiefs to oust the King and one of the Chiefs reported him to Labadzala”, said the royal insider.
Speaking to this Swaziland News on the latest developments, former Senate President Ngomyayona Gamedze said the King was castrating the Throne by removing Prince Magudvulela, a senior Prince of the Hhohho region.
“Magudvulela is the senior Prince of the Hhohho region and if you remove him, you are actually castrating the Throne”, he said.
King Mswati, an absolute Monarch is facing pressure even within his royal household to allow democratic reforms.
It has been disclosed that Prince Magudvulela was among other Chiefs who are siding with the people and they were organizing themselves to amplify the voices calling for democracy.
Princess Dlalisile, the daughter of King Sobhuza publicly declared her support for democracy when interviewed by this Swaziland News adding that there would never be peace in the country if the people were not allowed to govern themselves.
