MBABANE: Simlindzile Masinga, the Deputy Secretary General of the Swaziland National Union of Students(SNUS) has been elected as Gender Secretary for the Southern African Students Union (SASU).
This was during an online Congress that was held from the 10-12 December 2021.
Speaking to this Swaziland News on Sunday, the SNUS Deputy Secretary General said she was grateful for the recognition and the trust that students across the Southern African region have put on her.
“Student politics is my first experience of activism,it introduced me to the Swazi struggle, I will always be loyal and supportive of student politics. I would like to firstly express my utmost gratitude to my union ( SNUS) for the work they have done in grooming and nurturing me.The fight is far from over but I intend to dedicate myself like never before.
It is saddening that I have to consider myself as having a passion for gender equality just for wanting what I'm entitled to. Nevertheless I am grateful for the recognition and trust that has been put on me", she said.
The newly elected leadership of the SASU are: President Alister Phunye (Zimbabwe), Vice President Isiah Mambwe (Zambia),Deputy Secretary General Esther Gomani(Malawi), Treasurer General,Buthani Thobela (South Africa), Gender Secretary Similindzile Masinga (eSwatini) and International Relations Secretary Boago Dodo Setiko (Botswana).
