MBABANE: Sakhile Aviwa Nxumalo, the Swaziland Nation Union of Students(SNUS)Political Educator clashed with armed police officers on Monday at the Eswatini Christian Medical University.

This comes after after students boycotted classes over various grievances that include the continued operations of the University despite reports of confirmed COVID-19 cases and the delay of their five thousand(R5000) refunds that the institution owes to some of the students.

Police Spokesperson Superintendent Phindile Vilakati had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

Speaking to this Swaziland News, Nxumalo confirmed that they had a serious disagreement with the police at the Christian Medical University adding that the institution was subsequently closed.

“We had gone there to visit the students as part of the preparations of our congress this week. We then discovered that the students are being ill-treated and that they were complaining about the continued operation of the University despite reports of COVID-19  confirmed cases. They are also demanding their money amounting to R5000.00 refund that each student paid when they were admitted at the University”, he said.

Efforts to reach the Management of the Eswatini Christian Medical University proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.
