MBABANE: David Cruiser Ngcamphalala, the Tinkhundla Minister who insulted the youth at the beginning of the recent political unrest had his home at Sigwe petrol bombed by unknown people in the early morning hours on Tuesday.
The majority of the youth in eSwatini struggles with scholarships, jobs and employment among others, the country has about 70% of the population living below the poverty line.
The Minister had triggered anger among the protesting youth, saying government must ignore them as they only barked on social media.
He was speaking in Parliament during a debate of the Justice for Thabani protests that triggered more demonstrations calling for democratic reforms.
“Honourable Members of Parliament, don’t bother yourself about the youth that only barks on social media, these people don\'t decide the outcomes of elections because they don’t even vote”, said the Minister.
The government subsequently unleashed soldiers and the police to shoot and kill dozens of civilians merely for demanding democratic reforms, a preliminary report by the Human Rights Commission suggests that forty-six(46) people were killed.
But leaders of political parties and the civil society alleged that they have evidence suggesting that more one hundred(100) people were killed with over seventy already identified.
It could not be ascertained if the petrol bombing of the Minister’s home was linked to his political affiliation with King Mswati’s government or his private dealings.
When this publication tried to reach the Minister, he avoided to comment, his phone was answered by a man who said he was his personal assistant.
“We will call you back nasesivile kutsi kushile, kwanyalo sisengakeva”, he said.
