MBABANE: Thandaza Silolo, the founder and President of the People’s Front(PF) has dissolved his political party and joined Swaziland News as a journalist.
Silolo is a media practitioner who through PODRASO, worked within the then Swaziland Broadcasting and Information Services(SBIS) entertainment department. He worked with the likes of Dan Siphampanana Duma, Gideon Vilakati, Magalela Percival Mtshali, Zweli Martin Dlamini and Percy Simelane among others.
Speaking to this Swaziland News on Wednesday Silolo said he decided to dissolve the political party and focus on his career in the media by joining the Swaziland News being a newspaper seen to be promoting the calls for democratic reforms.
Silolo said he applied for a job and after being successful, the editor advised him to resign from politics saying he cannot be a President of a political party while working as a journalist.
“It’s true that I have joined Swaziland News after resigning as President of the People’s Front(PF). I applied for a job and after being successful, the editor advised me to resign as President of the PF to avoid a conflict of interest”, he said.
Silolo then advised members of the PF to join political parties of their choice as the party was now being dissolved. He said he experienced a lot of financial challenges after establishing the political party particularly in a country where political parties were banned.
“I was struggling to get a job, that’s why I decided to approach the Swaziland News because my desire is to push the struggle but from the media side”, he said.
