MBABANE: Deputy Prime Minister Senator Themba Masuku has failed to respond to questions regarding the disappearance of child maintenance monies in his corruption infested office resulting to innocent children struggling with no food for almost two months.

The child maintenance monies are deducted by Government from fathers salaries through garnishee orders and later distributed to the children through their mothers or guardians.

Speaking to this Swaziland News, Lindelwa Dlamini of Ezulwini, one of the affected mothers revealed that the problem had been there for the past two months and they were not getting any assistance from the Deputy Prime Minister's office.

“We are faced with a terrible situation here, we don’t know how we will feed our kids. We learnt in October that the Central Bank abolished cheques and we were requested to submit our banks accounts, but until today,  the money has not reflected in our bank accounts", said the single mother.

Senator Themba Masuku, the Deputy Prime Minister had not responded to our questions at the time of compiling this report.

Reached for comments, Pius Vilakati the Spokesperson of Communist Party Of Swaziland (CPS )said this was one of the ways in which women and children's rights were violated in the country.

"This is one of the ways in which women and children's rights are violated in the country, and often it's not talked about. Children also face this dilemma when they have to get monies due to them from their late parents’ pensions, and it needs due attention”, he said
