When King Mswati decided to launch a direct attack on the citizens by arresting elected Members of Parliament(MPs)merely for demanding democratic reforms, the expectation was that other MPs would become vocal and demand their release.
But now, in a country where climbing the political ladder calls for one to backstab those seen to be against the system, MP Sibusiso 'Mabhanisi’ Dlamini was in court on Wednesday to legitimize the injustice against pro-democracy MPs Bacede a Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube.
The Kwaluseni MP told Judge Mumcy Dlamini that his life was in danger after testifying against the MPs and expressed concerns that having an opinion that was different from those of certain people placed one in danger in this country.
Indeed, Mabhanisi was correct that having a different opinion from that of King Mswati, his police and soldiers carries a death penalty in this country.
Protesting and demanding democracy places one in danger of being shot and killed or arrested like these pro-democracy MPs.
Mabhanisi addressed the court and demanded protection while expressing his opinion, on the other hand he was testifying against MPs who were arrested for expressing their political opinions about how the country was governed.
As you read this article, police and soldiers are terrorizing citizens with different political opinions in the rural areas and Mabhanisi is lucky that a royal linked Judge Mumcy ordered the police to provide him with security.
The people of Kwaluseni must do the right thing and make sure Mabhanisi doesn’t win elections, he is a shame to democracy and has proven not to understand politics.
How can you claim having a different political opinion places one in danger in this country while testifying against MPs who were arrested for expressing their opinions?
It’s a pity that in the country where courts and the media are captured, such high profile cases are not broadcasted live, Mabhanisi would have been embarrassed during a cross examination.
MP Mabhanisi has joined other MPs like Mabulala Maseko and Phila Buthelezi who decided to sell the people and ‘drink’ the blood of these pro-democracy MPs for power.
Let’s hope he will be rewarded with a Cabinet position as well.
