MANYISENI:Chief Bhejisa Lushaba has told aggrieved residents of Manyiseni to follow traditional channels instead of petitioning him.
This comes after residents of the area petitioned the Chief demanding the return of all pieces of land that were forcefully grabbed from some of them for the Chief’'s selfish needs.
Responding to the petition on Saturday, the Chief said petitions and protests were unSwazi adding that those who felt he was failing in his duties should report him to the Regional Administrator .
"We are not used to protests and petitions, but I have decided to accept your petition and guide you on the right channels to follow. Those who allege I have forcefully grabbed their land should come to me with an emissary to state their case”, reads the Chief's response in part.
Reached for comments, Norman Xaba the Chairperson of the People’s United Democratic Movement (PUDEMO) in the Shiselweni region said they strongly condemned the Chief for disregarding their human rights as a community.
"What I can say is that as PUDEMO we strongly condemn the Chief for not taking the issue of our human rights seriously. We want to urge all the people of Manyiseni and Shiselweni region to come together and deal with all the Chiefs that have a tendency of disregarding human rights",he said.
