MBABANE: Mlungisi Makhanya, the President of the People’s United Democratic Movement (PUDEMO) has come out to clarify that King Mswati was not appointed by God.
Speaking during a press conference held at the Mountain Inn in Mbabane on Saturday where the Multi-Stakeholders Forum was announcing activities to commemorate the 12 April 1973 Decree, Makhanya said he was present when Mswati was crowned King, he maintained that God and the people were not involved in the process.
“I was there when Mswati was crowned as King, we were not involved. These are some of the things that we want to unravel so that the country could be grounded on the truth. Because namuhla sinenkinga yalona, kusasa sitawuba nenkinga yanangu Macwatsa longu-Sicalo. We want to correct these things so that our own kids do not live under the same misery that we live in with our parents,” said the PUDEMO President when responding to a question from Times Sunday senior journalist Mfankhona Nkambule.
Thabile Mdluli, the Deputy Government Spokesperson had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
On another note, human rights lawyer Thulani Maseko, the Chairperson of the Multi-Stakeholders Forum warned the King not to think that every process that sought to resolve the political crisis must start at eSibayeni.
