MBABANE: EKABAU, the Eswatini Kombis, Buses and Allied Workers Union has demonstrated an intention to support University students in their demand for scholarships and other issues of public interest.

Reached for comments, Mcolisi Fakudze, the President of the Eswatini Kombis, Buses and Allied Workers Union(EKABAU) confirmed their new working relationship with University students through the Swaziland National Union of Students(SNUS).

“We are working towards ensuring that when they call protests, they will inform us if they need our support and we will support them”, said the EKABAU President.

Fakudze said students were their main customers hence the decision to support them in their struggles.A source within the Executive of the Union said their collaboration with the Students Union will not only focus on addressing issues affecting them but the entire country.

“You will understand that these two unions can change everything in the country. So we are also planning a protest where we will demand a salary increment for civil servants because if these workers are broke, we don’t have a job”, said a source within the Executive of the public transport workers Union.

Reached for comments, Wakhile Lukhele, the Secretary General of the Swaziland National Union of Students(SNUS) confirmed that they engaged with the public transport workers, however, he said the collaboration was handled by the President.
