MANZINI:Mbongwa Dlamini, the President of the Swaziland National Association of Teachers(SNAT) has warned against what he described as an intimidation by the army directed to teachers who exercised their right to petition the Regional Education Offices(REO).
An army helicopter was on Tuesday allegedly seen flying over Empini Primary School in an attempt to intimidate the teachers who petitioned the Manzini REO over unworkable conditions.
Tengetile Khumalo, the Army Spokesperson had not responded to our questions at the time of compiling this report.
Speaking to this Swaziland News, Mbongwa Dlamini, the President of the Swaziland National Association of Teachers (SNAT)confirmed the matter.
“We would like to appeal to those in power to stop intimidating these teachers since they were exercising their rights by delivering the petition to the REO.These security forces should redirect their energy into cracking the rising cases of hijackings and robberies, instead of attacking those who are just delivering petitions”,said the SNAT President.
