MANZINI:Mlungisi Makhanya, the President of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) urged political leaders to always be at the forefront during protests so that the enemy could start with them when attacking the people.
Speaking during the Thabani Nkomonye Commemoration Day at the SNAT Centre, Manzini, the PUDEMO President urged political leaders to join him and be at the forefront as they marched to deliver a petition to the Regional Headquarters.
“As leaders we must always be at the forefront during protests so that the enemy can start with us when attacking the people. When we finish here, I want all the leaders to join me and lead the people as we march to the police,” said the PUDEMO President.
The police subsequently fired teargas and shot the protestors next to the Manzini Central High School,dozens were injured. But the petition was eventually delivered at the Manzini Regional Police Headquarters on Friday afternoon after the protestors regrouped and marched again.
