MATSAPHA: Ms Rose Ssebatindira, the United Nations Development Program(UNDP)Resident Representative says the Parliament Strategic Plan would enhance the regulatory and fiscal environment needed to accelerate progress towards reaching the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs).
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)were adopted by the United Nations(UN) in 2015 as a universal call for countries to work collectively towards ending poverty, protect the planet and further ensure that by 2030 all people around the world enjoyed peace and prosperity.
Speaking during the official launch of the Parliament Strategic Plan and a website at Esibayeni Lodge on Thursday, the UNDP Resident Representative maintained that this would happen only if the strategic plan was effectively implemented.
“I am encouraged that the Parliament Strategic Plan that is about to be launched, if effectively implemented, will enhance the regulatory and fiscal environment needed to accelerate progress towards reaching the SDGs targets,"said the UNDP Resident Representative as quoted by Government online platforms.
On another note, Senate President Pastor Lindiwe Dlamini said inclusiveness always bodes well for unity and development.
“The Strategy provides insight on the strengths of the institution and opportunities. The website will be a very important tool in the implementation of the Strategy. It is a way of creating visibility and accessibility of Parliament to local, regional and international stakeholders", said the Senate President.
