MBABANE:Mancoba Mabuza, a political analyst and author says the Swazi society is in a democratic transition and this creates a challenge for new media companies seeking to spread propaganda to penetrate the market.
Speaking to this Swaziland News in a exclusive interview, the seasoned journalist who once served as the President of the Swaziland National Union of Students(SNUS)said Swazis are now enlightened and can easily identify a publication established to mislead them.
“It’s not easy anymore to just enter the market and spread propaganda with the intention of misleading the people. The people are very clear that they want democracy, they want pro-democracy news, if you come with something else, they will tell you straight and avoid your publication.Even if you can have a budget of R2billion to establish a propaganda media company, it will collapse before it starts because the people will reject it. We are now living in interesting times, yesterday(Friday) PUDEMO members entered the High Court with banners something that we have never seen in this country. It’s because the society is changing.Even police officers know that once they mess-up with the people and be identified, something might happen to them or their homes the very same day,” said the author.
