MBABANE:Colani Maseko, the President of the Swaziland National Union of Students(SNUS)has announced the shutdown of all Universities with effect from Tuesday to observe the June 29 commemoration.
Speaking to this Swaziland News on Monday, the Students President urged all University students in the country not to attend classes on Wednesday to honour those who died during the June 29 massacre.
“All University students are urged not to attend classes on the 29th June 2022 as part of the massacre commemoration. We are honouring those who died last year during the political unrest,those who are in prison and those who are in exile,” said the Students Union President.
On another note, Education Minister Lady Howard-Mabuza announced the closure of schools during a press conference held on Sunday, the Minister said schools will re-open on the 5th July 2022.
She alleged that this was meant to give teachers more time to rest, however, Mbongwa Dlamini, the President of the Swaziland National Association of Teachers(SNAT) said government was afraid of the June 29 commemoration.
