MBABANE: Isaac Makhathu, a police officer tried to hand over an alleged influential member of the Swaziland International Solidarity Forces(SISF) to the police.
Makhathu sent a message to the member of the Solidarity Forces who is also a member of his church, facilitating a meeting after the arrest of two alleged members of the SISF.
It is alleged that during the arrest of the members of the SISF who are in police custody, two members of the Solidarity Forces managed to speed-off with guns ‘loaded’ in a car after being stopped by the police in a roadblock.
“Morning Bhuti I trust you are well(withheld).Cha kute lokubi am just checking on you and further to reassure you Bhuti kutsi before I became a police I became a Christian.I swear(name withheld) when I said please see me bengingafuni kukubopha or to kill you. I hope you will believe me and plot no evil against me,” reads the message in part allegedly sent by Makhathu to the alleged Solidarity Forces member.
Reached for comments, police officer Isaac Makhathu confirmed contacting the alleged Solidarity Forces member and said his intention was not to get him arrested.
“That boy is a member of my church, he grew-up under me and my intention was not to get him arrested but to engage him after learning that he was implicated in police investigations. I even asked my pastor to try and facilitate the meeting,” said the police officer.
On another note, the alleged member of the Solidarity Forces when speaking to this Swaziland News on Wednesday warned Makhathu against contacting him adding that he must not put himself in trouble by trying to assist other police officers in their investigation.
“I know Makhantu, we go to the same church but I might find myself shooting him if he continues to negotiate that we meet. For me, the liberation of the Swazis is very important than my relationship with him.Makhantu started contacting me after the arrest of two members of the Solidarity Forces and he thinks I am stupid and cannot see that he was trying to get me arrested. We will soon intensify our operation and we don’t want people to stand on our way, he must just stop sending messages to me otherwise he will be in trouble,” said the alleged member of the Solidarity Forces.
The Swaziland International Solidarity Forces(SISF) is a people’s military unit that seeks to intensify the calls for democratic reforms while protecting the citizens after the killing of dozens of civilians by Mswati’s security forces.
It was established after Mswati failed to listen to the people’s demands for democracy and unleashed his forces on unarmed civilians.
