MBABANE: Gospel Artist Mzwakhe Myeni, a member of the Swaziland Liberation Movement(SWALIMO) has withdrawn his participation in the royalty linked biggest braai.
The event is organised by Ndzingeni Member of Parliament(MP) Lutfo Dlamini and his partner Queen Ntombi Tfwala, the Patron of Philani Maswati Charity Organization.
“I was invited to participate in the biggest braai and play a boxing game with Apostle Maculuve. But after the resolution by the Political Parties Parties(PPA) suggesting that we must boycott the event, I have since withdrawn my by participation,” said Myeni, an influential member of SWALIMO.
Myeni stated clearly that former Senate Deputy President Ngomyayona Gamedze, the Chief Whip of the PPA urged Swazis to boycott the biggest braai adding that he was in full support of the resolution.
Reached for comments, Webster Lukhele who was organizing the boxing game confirmed that Myeni called and informed him on Sunday evening that he was withdrawing his participation.
“It’s true, Myeni called and informed me that he was withdrawing his participation. Kani kubi kangako? Eish yati lentfo ayendlule mani sitochubeka siphile,” he said.
MP Lutfo Dlamini when speaking during a press conference on Monday, assured those who would participate in the biggest braai that the police and Top Two Security would ensure their safety.
On another note, Apostle Vusumuzi Maculuve confirmed that he was invited to participate in the boxing game with Mzwakhe Myeni.
The gospel artist said after consulting with Myeni, they both agreed to withdraw their participation.
“I was invited to participate in the boxing game with Mzwakhe Myeni to entertain the participants. But after consultations with Myeni, I am also withdrawing my participation”, he said.
The biggest braai comes after Prime Minister Cleopas Dlamini told the media that the environment was not conducive for a political dialogue, however, Mswati and his loyalists continue to host events like the Army and Correctional Services Day.
Royalty will host the biggest braai this weekend amid shooting and killing of civilians by security forces, police officers are expected to be more visible as the event is linked to Mswati’s mother, Queen Ntombi Tfwala.
