Tuesday, 19th July, 2022

LOBAMBA: Zakhele Magongo, the Nkhaba Member of Parliament(MP) has urged Government to release incarcerated Members of Parliament(MPs) Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube.

Addressing Prime Minister Cleopas Dlamini in Parliament on Monday afternoon, the Nkhaba MP said Swazis have died as a result of the ongoing tensions in the country and challenged the PM to explain when would the environment be conducive for a political dialogue.

“When will the political environment be conducive for a political dialogue, after the death of how many Swazis? I think others here are not being affected by this situation directly, they just read in the newspapers. Some of us who come from the Constituencies, we know June 29 and we buried people who were killed by the police and soldiers. In my Constituency, I also buried a police officer who was gunned down and we don’t know the killers,it’s painful. I think we need to do something as a matter of urgency to make the situation conducive for a political dialogue,” he said.

The Nkhaba MP then urged the Prime Minister to facilitate the release of the incarcerated MPs to restore peace and stability in the country.

He asked the PM not to use complicated words like ‘sub-judice’ when asked to release the MPs.

“Khulula naba Bahlonishwa labalapha ePrison. Ngiyati kutsi kunemagama lamakhulu lowashoko bo-subjudice angilati kutsi lisho kutsini leligama. But asesibakhululeni labaBahlonishwa batovuka ekhaya bayo-attenda. Sizame ku-calmer le-situation silive(meaning: Release the incarcerated MPs who are kept in prison. I know you normally use ‘big’ words like sub judice and I don’t even know what that word means. But let us release the MPs to try and calm the situation,” said the Nkhaba MP.
