SIPHOFANENI: The Elections and Boundaries Commission(EBC) allegedly established a secret polling station at Siphofaneni Primary School where residents are voting without the presence of the candidates’ representatives(BoGalanjane).
Reached for comments, Mcabango Gwebu of the Swaziland Liberation Movement(SWALIMO) confirmed that, to their surprise, a polling station was established at Siphofaneni Primary School.
Political parties are banned in eSwatini and Swazis are forced to participate as individuals, SWALIMO is supporting Nomalungelo Simelane(LaZwide) the wife of ousted pro-democracy MP Mduduzi Magawugawu Simelane.
“We are on the ground and we can confirm that a polling station was secretly established at Siphofaneni Primary School, people are voting there without the presence of BoGalanjane(candidates’ representatives) and this might compromise the credibility of the votes from that station,” he said.
Indeed, officials from the EBC were seen hard at work at the Siphofaneni Primary School, there were no visible representatives of the candidates.
The new Siphofaneni MP is expected to be announced on Saturday night or in the early hours on Sunday morning.
