MBABANE: A woman was almost killed by a police officer merely for wearing a t-shirt belonging to the Swaziland Liberation Movement(SWALIMO).

The incident happened in Manzini on Friday and the police officer is said to have produced a gun and asked the woman if she was ready to die for wearing a t-shirt belonging to a political organization.

Other details of the incident cannot be revealed for now as the matter is a subject of an investigation by this Swaziland News and the identity of the officer will be revealed in due course.

Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, the police Spokesperson had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

Reached for comments, Siphetfo Dlamini, the Secretary General of the Swaziland Liberation Movement(SWALIMO) confirmed the incident.

“We can confirm that the matter you are asking me about it’s true, it happened,”said the SWALIMO Secretary General.

Citizens in eSwatini are tortured, arrested and killed merely for wearing t-shirts belonging to their political organizations.

Political parties are banned in eSwatini and King Mswati rules the country as an absolute Monarch.
