Deputy Prime Minister Themba Masuku travels to Mozambique for AU/ SADC Disaster Risk Reduction meeting.

MAPUTO: Senator Themba Masuku, the Deputy Prime Minister attended the AU/SADC Multi-Hazard Early Warning and Action System for Disaster Risk Reduction meeting in Maputo, Mozambique. 

AU stands for the African Union while SADC is the Southern African Development Community(SADC), regional body for member States in the Southern African region.

According to Government online platforms, the DPM left the country on Wednesday for the meeting that was also attended by Ministers responsible for disaster issues.

“The Deputy Prime Senator Minister Themba Nhlanganiso Masuku  is attending the AU/SADC Multi-Hazard Early Warning and Action System for Disaster Risk Reduction meeting in Maputo, Mozambique. The DPM who left the country yesterday is part of the African Union led meeting that brings together Ministers responsible for Disaster issues, Climate Change and Early Warning.The meeting seeks to strengthen early warning and early action in the SADC region in order to attain the target of having early warning systems to reduce vulnerabilities and improve preparedness and response to natural hazards in the next five years within the African Continent,” reads an online Government report.
