OSHOEK: Army Commander Mashikilisane Fakudze was involved in a verbal showdown with PUDEMO President Mlungisi Makhanya here at the Oshoek border on Wednesday evening.
PUDEMO stands for the People’s United Democratic Movement, a political organization fighting for democratic reforms in eSwatini.
The Army Commander was travelling in his private car, an Audi, when he met Makhanya on the South African side of the border, this journalist was also at the Oshoek border when the confrontation happened.
When the Army Commander arrived at the South African immigration offices, he looked at the PUDEMO President, those he was traveling with were heard speaking in hushed tone “Here is the President of PUDEMO”,
It was then that the PUDEMO President looked straight at the Army Commander and subsequently asked him why he was looking at him.
“Ungibukani?(meaning: Why are you looking at me?)”, asked the PUDEMO President as he confronted the Army Commander.
Fakudze later drove towards the Swazi side, parked at PUMA filling station and went straight to order the police on the eSwatini side to monitor if Makhanya was entering the country or not.
