In terms of democratic principles the majority rules, but ethically once a leader is elected into office,he or she must embrace and protect even the interests and rights of the minority.
Christianity is the supreme religion in this country with a huge following, but we need to understand that a majority of the population attends church after being promised a good life and or financial breakthroughs, they never open the Bible and read it with understanding.
Even the Bible acknowledges that the devil enjoys a huge following but that doesn’t mean the people are following him to hell are on the right path.
The devil strives by misleading people and or Christians into believing they are going to Heaven, but keeps on diverting them to hell without them noticing.
It is for these reasons,we have a large population of Christians that kills, engage in corrupt activities, commit adultery, but have the guts to quote the Bible in condemning Gays, Lesbians and deprive them their rights to exist as human beings.
Perhaps, one can ask why Christians are quick to judge and condemn while committing sins?
This conduct and or the tendency of discriminating other human beings is not new but fortunately,Jesus addressed it fairly over 2000 years ago, when presiding over a matter of a Samaritan woman who was caught committing adultery.
While Jesus was preaching before a crowd, teachers of the religious law and or Pharisees brought a woman early in the morning who had been caught committing adultery.
“Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. The law of Moses says we must stone her to death. What do you say?,” said the Pharisees.
The Pharisees were trying to trap him, in fact they wanted Jesus to say something that they could use against him.
But,Jesus stooped down and wrote in the dust with his finger.
“Alright, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone,” Jesus said.
When the Pharisees heard this, they disappeared one by one because they remembered their sins.
Before Jesus Christ came to earth to die for our sins on the cross, people were being stoned to death after being found guilty of violating the law of Moses by committing adultery.
But today, Christians are committing adultery with impunity and or without fear, they know no one will stone them to death because Jesus liberated them from the law of Moses.
But despite being beneficiaries of the blood of Jesus, some Christians believe Jesus died for them not Gays and Lesbians.
Some Christians believe, the sins that resulted to mass destruction of Gomora and Sodom were excluded from the list of forgivable sins when Jesus died on cross.
As a result, after benefiting from the mercy, Christians go on to condemn other human beings merely for being Gays and Lesbians, they don’t believe Jesus Christ died on the cross for these human beings too.
As mentioned, before Jesus died on the cross, adultery was a serious offence punishable by death but today, the State cannot sentence a citizen to death for committing adultery.
Even though adultery is not a criminal offence, it remains a sin before God,fortunately, that could be forgiven.
As Christians, we must therefore guard against condemning Gays and Lesbians when we commit sins everyday.
No human being must discriminate others because of gender, sexual orientation and religious beliefs, some Christians commit adultery in church, only to condemn Gays and Lesbians.
