MBABANE: Senator Tony Sibandze has donatedPersonal Protective Clothing(PPEs) and food worth E 85 000 to the Lubombo Referral Hospital staff and patients.
This kind gesture was announced by the Minister of Health Lizzie Nkosi during a press briefing held at the Cabinet offices in Mbabane on Tuesday afternoon.
"I would like to pass a vote of thanks to Tony Sibandze who yesterday has given a lot of support to the health workers at the Lubombo Referral Hospital . This included gift packages and PPE's that they can wear", she said.
When reached for comment, Sibandze confirmed the gesture. "These frontline workers at the Lubombo Referral Hospital are also human like us. They sometimes work in fear but still carry out their duties religiously in the fight against COVID 19,I found it fit to motivate them with gifts worth E 85 000" he said.
He also revealed that most of the gifts were self-financed and alsohegot assistance from the Bible society and MedStar.
“The gifts include 50 PPEs for the frontline staff,100 litres of sanitizers and pocket sanitizers for each medical staff.Patients were given toiletries and Bibles. I delivered 105 bags of rice,105 bags of sugar ,and 105 bags of mealie meal. These food hampers covered the whole staff from the gate man, orderlies up to the Medical medical staff" he said.
He said he did this out of the goodness of his heart and thanked the Bible Society and MedStar for their assistance.
