MBABANE: Alexander Surikov, the Russian Ambassador to eSwatini has denied allegations suggesting that some of King Mswati’s security officers were trained in his home country.
This comes after this Swaziland News exposed Senior Superintendent Sikhumbuzo Dictor Gwebu,one of Mswati’s powerful and influential Secret State Intelligence Officer who is alleged to be part of a hit squad killing political activists.
Speaking during a press conference at the Hilton Hotel, Mbabane on Tuesday, the Ambassador said they only shared expertise with security officers including the army.
“We are not training soldiers from Eswatini,we are only giving scholarships for higher military education,”said the Ambassador.
But Senior Superintendent Sikhumbuzo Dictor Gwebu when reached for comments by this publication earlier confirmed that he was trained in Russia.
“It’s true that I did go to Russia, but it was about criminal investigations,”said the senior cop.
