Establishing and strengthening diplomatic ties with Russia might assist Mswati in securing military weapons to be used against the pro-democracy movement.
But the truth is;having a strong military to be used against Swazis cannot guarantee Mswati a protection of his Throne,the United States(US)can cripple this regime with sanctions.
In my previous article,I highlighted how it was a diplomatic blunder for King Mswati to invite Russian foreign Minister His Excellency Sergey Lavrov to eSwatini.
Russia is a strong diplomatic ally to China but Mswati wants to hold on to Taiwan while refusing to establish relations with China.
This means Mswati is and remains a diplomatic ‘prostitute’ who wants to turn our country into a battlefield for world superpowers.
The United States has been supporting projects in this country and this has helped Mswati’s regime to remain in power because some people thought the money came from Government.
Now,if you lose your diplomatic ‘friends’ who support your ‘children’ and establish ties with those who will provide weapons to fight your aggrieved citizens,what guarantee do you have that you will win?
I am suggesting that Eswatini must dump Russia,but it’s important to understand your main diplomatic partner and your conduct must not undermine the relationship with the diplomatic allies who are the engine of your economy.
The European Union(EU)is dominated by countries who are allies of the US and therefore,if eSwatini’s relationship with the United States is shaken,other diplomatic partners linked to the US will start questioning the legitimacy of this regime.
Diplomacy requires the highest level of political maturity,the diplomatic ‘policy’ suggesting that eSwatini does not have enemies cannot work when it comes to issues involving Russia and the US.
You can't ‘date’ Russia and the US and give these superpowers the same intimacy, they are and remain documented diplomatic foes.
