MBABANE:Gift Mandlenkosi Dlamini, the Secretary General of the newly formed Swazis First Democratic Front(SFDF) has resigned and dumped the eSwatini struggle for democracy as the journey to freedom proved to be long for ‘new’ comrades.
This comes a few months after Mzwakhe Myeni,another political leader dumped the struggle for democracy to re-join the Tinkhundla system.
Dlamini’s resignation was confirmed by the party’s Deputy President Dr Siphetfo Dlamini on Saturday evening.
“It’s true, he is no longer with us as per the press statement we released,” said the Swazis First Deputy President.
An insider close to the matter told this Swaziland News that Dlamini has dumped the struggle for democracy to focus on personal issues.
“Akayekeli ka-SFDF nje kuphela, sewuyekele kuzabalaza, we don’t know maybe,he will emerge as a member of another party later on,”said the source.
Efforts to reach Gift Dlamini proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.
It is alleged that more political leaders who joined the struggle in June 2021 are expected to resign as King Mswati and his Tinkhundla system re-gain power again.
