BIG-BEND:Wandile Dludlu,the Deputy President of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) has accused King Mswati and his royal family of systematically destroying the University of Eswatini(UNESWA).
Addressing workers on Monday during the Workers Day celebration held at Mayaluka Stadium, the PUDEMO Deputy President said the royal family has no interest in education.
“First it was Prince Phinda,then it was Prince David now it's Prince Mkhumbi.Mswati and his family have no interest in education and in UNESWA. The royal family is determined to destroy UNESWA into ashes, the King is quiet and this should tell you something.He hates education and our children, the institution has been closed for 57 days now. What a shame,” said the PUDEMO Deputy President.
The institution of higher learning was closed on the 15th March 2023 after Lecturers engaged in a strike action demanding a salary increment.
Despite being the Vice Chancellor of UNESWA, Mswati an absolute Monarch has been maintaining silence with regards to the UNESWA crisis.
