MBABANE:The Forum of Non Governmental Organizations(NGOs) under the African Commission on Human and People’s Rights has passed a resolution,calling upon Mswati’s government to release all political prisoners including but not limited

to Mduduzi Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube.

The Forum of NGOs further resolved that the government must allow the unconditional return of all exiles,including but not limited to MP Mduduzi ‘Magawugawu’ Simelane.

“Release all political prisoners including but not limited to the two Members of Parliament, Mduduzi Bacede MABUZA and Mthandeni DUBE.Allow all exiles to unconditionally return including but not limited to MP Mduduzi SIMELANE and withdraw all politically motivated charges.Urgently ensure a neutral venue for a properly mediated national political dialogue and work with the SADC structures to ensure a smooth transition to multiparty,” reads the resolution in part.

A questionnaire was sent to Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo, however, he had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

The resolution was adopted by the Forum of NGOs at Banjul, the capital city of Gambia last week, eSwatini was represented by human rights lawyer Mary-Dasilva of the MultiStakeholder Forum(MSF).

Reached for comments, lawyer Mary DaSilva confirmed the adoption of the resolutions,she said those resolutions are now expected to be analyzed and adopted by the African Commission on Human and People’s Rights.

“The Forum of NGOs have adopted those resolutions and then the African Commission on Human and People’s Rights will then analyze the resolution and if adopted, it will then be presented to the African Union(AU)”, said the human rights lawyer.
