EZULWINI: Prime Minister Cleopas Sipho Dlamini unveiled the first eSwatini environmental friendly electric car.

This was during the ongoing Green Indaba that seeks to create awareness on issues of climate change, the car was unveiled by the PM and UNDP Resident Representative at Happy Valley Hotel on Monday morning.

On another note,Ms Rose Ssebatindira, the United Nations Development Programme(UNDP) Eswatini Resident Representative announced a funding amounting to R600million that seeks to assist eSwatini on issues of climate change.

“According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), there is a booming demand for electric cars, with sales expected to increase by 35% this year, after a record-breaking 2022, when more than 10 million electric cars were sold. This explosive growth has resulted in a rise in the share of electric cars in the overall car market from about 4% in 2020 to 14% in 2022 and is set to increase further to 18% this year, according to the latest IEA projections. I have no doubt that with Government’s demonstrated climate action commitments this far, a decarbonized transport sector in the Kingdom is achievable,” said the UNDP Resident Representative.
