MBABANE: Welcome Dlamini, the weekend editor of the Times of eSwatini is highly expected to face Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Harries ‘Madze’ Bulunga in a race to Parliament.
Reached for comments on Sunday, the influential editor said if the people of Mbabane East entrust him to represent them in Parliament,he will accept the challenging task.
“Yes, if the people of Mbabane East nominate me for election,I will accept the nomination because serving my Constituency and country would be an honour,”said the editor.
Efforts to seek a comment from the Sports and Youth Affairs Minister proved unsuccessful as his phone rang unanswered.
Dlamini, the President of the Eswatini National Association of Journalists(ENAJ) is a highly experienced political journalist who is well-versed with the country’s political issues.
The editor has established Sibambene East Foundation,an organization that seeks to address issues of social and economic development at Mbabane East, the organization has been active on issues of development.
On Sunday, over four-thousand(4000) residents of Mbabane East watched a soccer tournament sponsored by Sibambene East Foundation to the tune of twenty thousand Rands(R20,000.00).
Speaking to this Swaziland News,Dlamini confirmed that the tournament was sponsored by his Foundation, he said the tournament was meant to bring together the people of Mbabane East and foster a spirit of unity.
“The Foundation has been established for purposes of bringing development to the Mbabane East Constituency after noting increasing levels of urban poverty that affects all age groups in the area and also the deteriorating family structures as well as the need to improve security issues in the area through addressing issues of crime. All in all, this Foundation is meant for the development of Mbabane East Constituency and also contributing to the national discourse,” said the editor.
