MBABANE: Gideon Mhlongo, the outgoing Mbabane Chief Executive Officer(CEO)is allegedly among a highly questionable list of proposed Councilors to be presented to Prince Simelane, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development.
The proposed list of Councillors to be appointed by the Minister, was allegedly prepared by Acting Principal Secretary(PS)Makhosi Simelane.
A questionnaire was sent to both the Acting PS and Gideon Mhlongo, however, both of them had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
Mhlongo recently released a press statement after this Swaziland News published an article suggesting that Prince Simelane refused to renew his contract, he confirmed that he was on his way-out.
Now, it is alleged that there are moves by the Minister’s subordinates linked Mhlongo, to influence his appointment as a Councillor so that he can influence the appointment of a new CEO to replace him.
“If Mhlongo is appointed, he will then become a Mayor, that would mean he is still in charge of Mbabane because he will control the new CEO,” said the insider.
