MBABANE: Gideon Mhlongo’s name was removed on the ‘last hour’ on the recommended list of Mbabane city Councillors to be appointed and announced by Prince Simelane, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development.
Mhlongo is the out-going Mbabane Municipality Chief Executive Officer(CEO), he has been holding the position for over twenty(20) years.
The names of those who appear in list of the appointees cannot be revealed for now as it is yet to be formally Gazetted.
But Tito Simelane, the retired Director Urban Government was included as Pigg’s Peak Town Council appointee.
A questionnaire was sent to Mbabane CEO Mhlongo and Makhosi Simelane, the Acting Principal Secretary(PS) in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, however, both of them had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
The draft Gazette shared to this journalist by Cabinet sources further suggests that the Minister appointed more than three(3) women to balance the gender in the list of appointes.
