MBABANE:Prince Simelane, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development says, even if he wanted to award retiring Mbabane Municipality Chief Executive Officer(CEO) Gideon Mhlongo another contract, it was not possible because of a journalist who seemed determined to ensure that he was removed.
Addressing Councillors and other guests when bidding farewell to the outgoing CEO last week, the Prince said he always read in the newspapers, and have since realized that there was a journalist who want to see Gideon Mhlongo removed as the Mbabane Municipality Chief Executive Officer(CEO).
The Urban Development Minister said it was his wish to see the CEO continuing with his duties so that, the new Councillors can learn and gain experience from him but, that was not possible because of the journalist.
“Noma ngabe bengifisa kanganani kwekutsi kube benginemandla ngangitsite akungetwe umnyaka munye-mibili. Kepha kuletitsa letingimelele ngemuva, maye babeeeee!!!, hhawu bengingaba nyama madzabu. Niyasati-ke siSwati -ke boNkhosi lesitsi inyoni ishaywa neligala layo. Bengingaba ligala mine, Njomane abe ngulenyoni(meaning: Even if I wanted to grant you a one(1) or two(2) year contract, it was not possible because doing so would have meant, I am inheriting the criticism directed at you)”, said the Urban Development Minister.
