SIKHUPHE: Prime Minister Cleopas Sipho Dlamini has returned from Botswana, he was representing King Mswati in the recently held United States(US)- Africa Business Summit.
Addressing the media upon his return on Saturday, the PM said, key issues affecting Africa including a possible collaboration with the U.S. on trade, health, agriculture and energy among others, were discussed.
“On agriculture, we discussed how Africa can leverage on the American markets by producing processed products.We also discussed how Africa can adopt climate-proof smart agriculture technologies. We agreed that MSMEs are playing a pivotal role in economic growth, with 97% of Africa's production coming from small scale farmers,” said the PM as quoted by Government online platforms.
The PM further mentioned that the Summit further discussed how Africa can produce clean energy.
“The U.S. expressed willingness to assist Africa through financing clean energy initiatives,” said the PM.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Thuli Dladla, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo, Minister of Health Lizzie Nkosi and Minister of Agriculture Jabulani Mabuza.
