“Don’t even come to Lubulini for nomination today we have been commanded to block you,” Station Commander tells aspiring pro-democracy MP Timothy Myeni.

LUBULINI: Timothy Myeni, the aspiring pro-democracy Member of Parliament(MP) has been warned not to dare set foot at Lubulini on Saturday, during the day of nomination.

This directive was allegedly communicated to the former MP by Lubulini Police Station Commander Sithembiso Dlamini, on Saturday morning around 5am.

Reached for comments by this Swaziland News, the Lubulini Station Commander said, he was ‘locked’ in a meeting and advised this journalist to call later.

“I am currently in a meeting MtfwaneNkhosi, please call later, maybe after 30minutes”, said the Lubulini Station Commander when responding to this journalist on Saturday morning.

But Timothy Myeni, the aspiring pro-democracy Lubulini Member of Parliament(MP) confirmed to this publication that, he “has been warned” not to set foot at Lubulini iNkhundla.

“It’s true,I have just received a call from the Lubulini Station Commander who warned me not to dare set foot at Lubulini today because, my supporters will nominate me by force and create chaos. He said as the police, they were ordered to stop me,” said the former MP.

Worth-noting, the Elections and Boundaries Commission(EBC) had released adverts with dates and Nomination Centres, on the advert it was stated that nominations at Mabantaneni-Lubulini would be held on Sunday.

But after Myeni\'s ban from participating in the elections at Lubulini Constituency and his intention to go to court, residents were quickly informed to nominate other aspiring MPs on Saturday.

It remains unclear if the confusion was not created deliberately, by the EBC to frustrate Myeni, so that by the time he secured a court order, the nominations would have been long concluded.

But Mbonisi Bhembe, the Spokesperson of the Elections Commission told this publication on Friday afternoon that,Myeni was removed at Lubulini, subsequent to a legal complaint objecting his registration in that area.

Bhembe said, like all complaints, the Commission analyzed Myeni’s matter and concluded that, he must stand or participate in elections at Nkilongo where he legally qualifies to be a voter in terms of the Voter Registration Act of 2013.

“Don’t even come to Lubulini for nomination today we have been commanded to block you,” Station Commander tells aspiring pro-democracy MP Timothy Myeni.
